How we came about
In December of 2007, two guys, Mike Smith and Joey Cooper, where lifting weights at a small local gym located in the middle of Pennington Gap Va. They noticed a lot of the machines didn't work and many things about the gym weren't up to par. Mike said to Joey, "Lets just buy this place and make a nice gym for our community". To joey's reply "I double dog dare ya."
A call was made, offer excepted and The Body Shop Gym was born.
After a couple months Mike bought out Joey's half and became the sole owner of the gym.
In 2011 the gym moved to a larger facility on the eastern end of Pennington.
In 2014 a gym in a neighboring town, Jonesville Virginia, was purchased.
